on my desk monday

I'm cleaning out the studio and purging all the printed drafts I went through for Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. They stack higher than the book!

I hope you're not throwing those drafts away! How about donating them to the Kerlan or another library? (I've been meaning to send a box of manuscripts to the Kerlan for quite some time and will, if I can ever get all the drafts collected together.) When I visited them, I enjoyed looking through Myra Cohn Livingston's boxes of drafts and editorial correspondence. Eve Merriam's box even included royalty statements, which I found interesting.

I like Janet's idea, seems like so much work to toss away and the editorial correspondence is such a great teaching tool.

whoops--they already went out to the recycling! oh well, sometimes I think it's more fun when the magic is unrevealed...
