And one can be yours! All you have to do is pre-order my book from Porter Square Books and you'll receive it along with your personally signed book (make sure you say in the order form to whom you wish the book to be signed to!).

These Moon Calendars are only available from me as part of this pre-order campaign and only while supplies last, so order NOW! Offer ends August 25th.

the art critic

About a year ago, when Rain Dragon realized what I did for a living, she asked if I would put her into a book. Little did she know, I had already been planning it for a while! Yes, she is the "star" in my upcoming picturebook, "A Big Mooncake for Little Star," the art of which I have just recently finished! The book doesn't come out until August 2018 (more than a year away!) but according to Rain Dragon, that is just fine because the art still needs work. Apparently, I forgot to make her into duck.

Today at the office

Rain Dragon: Mama, what are you doing?
Me: Drawing. Do you like my picture?
Rain Dragon: Not bad. But it needs a duck.
Me: It needs a duck? Where?
Rain Dragon: I'll show you.

She might be right....

On my desk Monday

School visits are over and I can finally start concentrating on my next book....a picture book!

Yes, it's been a long time! I've been pretty consumed with novels and early readers--the last picture book I did was over six years ago. So long ago that most people have forgotten that I am even an illustrator, most people now know me as author.

first steps

Which is probably why I've actually been sitting on this project for a while. Not because I don't love it...in fact, quite the opposite. It's because I love it so much I've been afraid to start. Am I still an illustrator? I have spent so much time focusing on improving my writing...has my art skill stagnated? Or worse, has it decayed and disappeared?

Well, I guess there is only one way to find out! Wish me luck!
