on my desk monday

It's summertime! Even though I am very happy to be working in the studio, sometimes I feel like I should be outside to soaking in the sun. So, I  brought some sun inside:

just as good, methinks!

Today, there are flowers, a throwback to my past writing companions

These are to celebrate the almost-end of the novel writing, but mostly they are a last goodbye from the summer.

on my desk monday

I can't enjoy the last bits of the summer sun as I am pegging away at my novel. So, I brought a little sun inside in form of a flower:

Plus, I'm hopingthe presence of flowers while I am writing is good luck.

on my desk monday

I know it's summer because our local farmer's market has opened again. The Sasquatch, perhaps out of habit, brought home these gorgeous lilies. In the light they are the color of the moon and remind me last summer when I was struggling with the rough draft of Starry River of the Sky.

Maybe these will inspire a new story. I hope so!

on my desk monday

I'm in the last stretch of the first draft of my novel and the everything is in disarray. I'm not that tidy to begin with, so when the writing becomes all-consuming the mess becomes chaotic. It's actually quite an accurate reflection of what is going on in my brain!

Luckily, my understanding Sasquatch has taken to buying me flowers at the weekly farmer's market ("If I go right before the market closes, they sell them real cheap!" he says). I love these lilies, the scent of them helps me dream of a place beyond my reality and seeing them encourages me that something beautiful can exist amongst all the mess.
