And the party continues! I thought, in the interest of party conversation, I'd tell you a fun anecdote about the book trailer as well as a sneak peak at third Ling and Ting book (yes, there's going to be another! I'm working on it now!)


Hopefully, you have seen the super cute  Ling and Ting Share A Birthday book trailer (created by the Sasquatch). Just in case you haven't, here it is again:



Usually, I have my niece Lily  voice the booktrailer and recorded her accordingly. However, we found out last minute that the Happy Birthday Song has a crazy copyright and since we couldn't afford to pay the rights for it, we had to make a quick emergency change. We were in a bit of a quandary, until I remembered there were some friends of friends in the area who had twins! It was too perfect! With gracious permission from the parents, I had a real-life Ling and Ting voicing the trailer:

They even helped me for the next book!

Starry River of the Sky Book Trailer

Here it is! The book trailer for Starry River of the Sky! Isn't it great? Because it took us so long, we were able to put excerpts in from four of the five (yes, FIVE! just got the fifth one yesterday!) starred reviews. So I guess there are advantages to being late.

Even though the book officially doesn't release until October 2nd, it's already available on Amazon! But you don't want to buy it there-- you want to buy it at my booklaunch on Sunday! And even if you can't make it to my booklaunch, you want to come back here on the October 2nd release day--I'm having an online party!

Remember the Bookie Woogie's video review of "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon" (also on my sidebar over there)? School Library Journal has chosen it as a finalist for the 2nd annual Trailee Awards! The winners are selected by public vote. You can see all the finalists and vote for your favorites in 6 categories HERE!

I think this deserves the 90 second Newbery Oscar!

So, the 90-second Newbery Movies are trickling in...and this one is AMAZING!!!!

Honestly, when I saw this I was speechless. I am completely wowed by the Bookie Woogie Bloggers' creation! Not only are the shadow puppets so beautifully done, the pacing, script and music is great, too. This is the perfect movie to show students before and after they read the book.

The Bookie Woogie Bloggers even created a separate blog chronicling how they made the movie. It's great fun to see the sketches, the storyboarding--and very helpful if you want to attempt a movie of your own. After reading it, I'm thinking about making my own 90-second Newbery with my niece.

Here is the extended trailer I promised after last month's teaser. It's a sneak peak of some of the color illustrations inside (even though WHERE THE MOUNTAIN MEETS THE MOON is a novel-grades 3 to 6- it will have full color illustrations, like the classic fairytale books).
