The Yarn Podcast

Just in case you missed it, a couple of days ago I posted about an episode I did on The Yarn podcast.  It's been ten years since Robert's death and while so much has changed and happened, there are so many things that have remained solid. One of those things has been my friendship with Alvina Ling, who you might know as Melody from The Year of the Dog. She is also my editor, most recently for When the Sea Turned to Silver--and that book is dedicated to her.  Listen here to find out why:

Hi! I'm an adult reader of juvenile fiction -- never grew up, I guess -- and I just want to tell you how much I am enjoying When the Sea Turned to Silver. Not only are the stories collected and connected in wonderful Storytelling; but the artwork is fabulous, too. I love your mastery of detail, composition, watercolor (the color plates), all of it. I like the ink chapter headings, too. (I didn't realize you did your own illustrations, as it's been awhile since I read Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.)

Thank you for a thoroughly pleasurable book, that I have enjoyed on many levels. I hope it brought -- and brings -- you joy, even if it was a laborious process. Your love of story and art shows on every page. Well done! Thanks for writing, for all of us who love Storytelling.
