this week in our garden

For unknown reason, our pumpkin plant (flowers and all) withered and died:

But there is an early harvest of another vegetable:

Though Rain Dragon is not sure what kind of vegetable they are:

Are they beans? Even her book doesn't quite convince her:

But she keeps them, anyway:

Lovely post! Thanks for sharing- sorry to hear about the pumpkins, but the beans look great! ~ Jess

Did Alex build those beds? What else have you planted?

Love the photos -- and sadly, know the feeling of things dying for no reason (or an obvious reason, like the sheep breaking in) all too well. Heartbreaking!

I am sad about the pumpkins, but our tomatoes look promising!

We planted lettuce, 3 different kinds of tomatoes, squash, beans, peas, pumpkins, strawberries and raspberries. We kind of just did it haphazardly, putting way too many plants in a bed (which might be why the pumpkins died, the squash and peas are stunted). We were more enthusiastic than skilled (or systematic). Next year we will do it correctly!
